One Life Left â S05e17 â #113 â Special ish

Ann: check. Simon: check. Super-special-guest Neil Long, editor Official Nintendo Magazine: c heck. Ste: ...

Yeah, dadâs away this week, so itâs happy fun party time at OLL Towers, with a special celebration in aid of the 50th issue of ONM, in âshopsâ now.

Bottles of Blue Nun are downed, cigarettes are smoked out through the toilet window and a couple are discovered upstairs amongst the coats. CALL YELLOW PAGES TO TIDY UP!

Aside from a record â and show â breaking two desk errors, itâs actually business as usual at One Life Left. There are only two songs, mind, so fans of The Killers will have to wait until next week, when we *think* Ste is off again.

Montreal-New York City by bicycle (part one)

The first of two features on a north American cycle tour undertaken over the summer. Starting in cycle-friendly Montreal and Quebec’s routes vertes and camping on the shores of Lake Champlain, this episode ends with a mildly disturbing encounter with an over-talkative former NYPD officer and child abuse investigator. Plus more from Paul Fournel’s [...]

Outsider In – Dan Wilson

I think by now I should have podcasted this show – This edition of Outsider In features Resonance104.4fm vetenarian Dan Wilson. Dan reluctantly appeared live as my guest on in the Resonance studio. Nonetheless we both saw it through. I hope you can as well. Dan Wilson created and hosted the wonderful Hellbore Shew and Epistaxis [...]

Hooting Yard: “Strangle a pig and burn down the barn and doh-si-doh your partners!”

It was a rallying cry, and in its wake pigs were strangled, barns were burned, and doh-si-dohs were essayed. How sweet the memory of those dances of my grandparents’ youth. I was not alive then of course, so I have no direct memory, but I recall, as an infant, sitting in a basket slung over [...]

LIKE DRAWING SOCIETY UK

Lifedrawingsociety UK was started in 2003 when James Tony Picanco decided to trace his passion for art, back to his childhood. Like most children Tony was one of those who was told that there are better ways to make a living than to spend the rest of your life trying to become an artist. Tony left his home town in Paris and came into London back in the 80’s. Over a period of time he has like most people tried to make a living on being a builder, manager, computer developer and many others on the list. Having made a living he decided to get back to what he would have always wanted to do, draw, sketch, paint and sculpt. While he started life drawing more frequently he realised that there are hundreds of people in the city of London who have given up their most desired hobby of drawing.

We have our sessions at interesting bars across London city, check our calender(above) to find your closest meetup. We also have our new 24/7 permanent space at market street, Bethnal green, where we offer shared office space for artists and designers, yoga, free exhibition space, a library and studio space for our life drawing sessions. One glance at the class and you will find Architects, illustrators, art students, graphic designers and all those who have simply found a new way to relax.

VISION (What are we trying to achieve ?)

To provide a platform for everyone in England to brush their strokes i.e draw, paint, sketch atleast once a week. Whilst driving the ‘SAVE THE PUBS’ campaign with respect to the 300 pubs that close every month in the country.

How are we achieving our Vision ?

1.Discovering newer spaces for art – Go beyond the galleries and your own desk. Find a place for art in every street and corner of London city. Involve as many people to create, share and display art

2.Saving the pubs – With the closing down of over 300 pubs a month, LDS personally drives the ‘Save the pubs’ campaign. We will encourage the community to spot pubs that in their view can become spaces of art and become the alternate use of a pub.

3.Creating a community – We are trying to establish a sustainable community of artists and models. Newer ideas and newer spaces will be a result of our actively participating memberbase.

VALUE STATEMENTS (What do we swear by ?)

1.Art first; this community is about art and will place art before any other cause or interest of its members.

2.All is one; ‘Art’ or ‘No art’ will be the only discrimination that will be practiced. Everyone else irrespective of gender, race and disability will be treated as equal.

3.Revere the art, the artist; we strive to build a sustainable relationship between the art produced in our community and the artists who promote us. We survive on the basis of this threefold respect between models, artists and their art.
